The Department of Health Abu Dhabi recently held a meeting with senior international officials to draft a declaration focused on AI governance in healthcare. This roundtable aimed to identify both the challenges and opportunities associated with implementing AI technologies within healthcare systems.

During the discussions, participants emphasized the necessity for transparent testing frameworks to ensure that AI tools adhere to clinical standards. Furthermore, the importance of collaboration across various sectors, including regulators, industry players, academia, and civil society, was highlighted as a critical factor for effective AI implementation.
Other significant topics addressed included the safeguarding of data privacy and security, the clarification of data ownership, and the need to bridge the skills gap through education and awareness initiatives.
