Q-linea AB has announced the commencement of the first clinical evaluation of its ASTar technology at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This marks a significant step as it is the first ASTar evaluation in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, following recent clearance from local authorities.

The evaluation will involve patient specimens and is being conducted to prepare for the increased implementation of rapid antibiotic susceptibility testing (rapid AST). Franco Pellegrini, the Vice President of Sales EMEA at Q-linea, expressed satisfaction with the swift progress of projects in the region, attributing this success to the professional efforts of their local partner, AMICO Group.

Pellegrini noted the high interest in rapid antibiotic susceptibility testing demonstrated during various congresses and customer interactions, indicating that Q-linea expects to initiate additional evaluations in the region soon. This initiative underscores the growing focus on improving antibiotic resistance testing capabilities in the healthcare sector.
