The Saudi Press Agency reported that the surgical team employed robotic techniques to minimize complications and expedite recovery times, ultimately enhancing the quality of healthcare provided at the facility. This commitment to innovation also includes the integration of artificial intelligence, which improves safety and accuracy in medical procedures.

Earlier this year, KFHU’s Heart Center achieved notable advancements in treating heart and lung conditions, including the pioneering of balloon pulmonary angioplasty. This groundbreaking procedure for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension marked a significant first for the Eastern Province.

During the angioplasty, a catheter is inserted through a vein to access and widen narrowed or blocked pulmonary arteries using a small balloon. This technique effectively improves blood oxygen levels, reduces pressure in the pulmonary arteries, enhances heart function, and significantly elevates the patient’s quality of life, as highlighted by the Saudi Press Agency.
