In a significant charitable initiative during Ramadan, the Endowments and Minors’ Trust Foundation in Dubai (AWQAF Dubai) has partnered with Al Jalila Foundation, which is the philanthropic branch of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA). This collaboration aims to create a sustainable endowment building dedicated to supporting the treatment of patients at the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital. The total cost of this project is projected to exceed Dh38.5 million.

The formal agreement between AWQAF Dubai and Al Jalila Foundation includes plans to construct a seven-storey endowment facility in the Dubai South area. The land for this construction, valued at Dh8.5 million, is owned by Al Jalila Foundation, which will also finance the construction costs of Dh30 million over a period of 16 months.
According to the contract, both the building and the land will serve as a perpetual endowment under the supervision of AWQAF Dubai. All revenues generated from this project will be directed entirely towards supporting patients at the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital.
Ali Al Mutawa, Secretary General of AWQAF Dubai, highlighted the partnership’s goal to advance healthcare in society and support cancer patients while alleviating financial burdens on their families. He also mentioned that AWQAF Dubai will begin implementing the agreement immediately, overseeing all construction operations to meet the project’s timeline.
Dr. Raja Eisa Al Gurg, Member of the Board of Directors of DHA and Chairperson of Al Jalila Foundation, expressed gratitude towards AWQAF Dubai for their collaboration. She emphasized the importance of partnerships in making a lasting impact on patients’ lives, aligning with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to embed charitable work in society.
Dr. Al Gurg noted that this endowment will provide long-term support to the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, which plays a crucial role in offering specialized treatment for cancer patients as the first comprehensive cancer hospital in Dubai. She reaffirmed Al Jalila Foundation’s commitment to humanitarian efforts in the healthcare sector through this sustainable endowment project.
