American TelePhysicians (ATP) has been selected by the UAE and Jordanian Governments to develop a state-of-the-art Virtual Hospital in collaboration with prominent international industry leaders such as Experia, Philips, Electronic Health Solutions (Hakeem), Presight, and Malaffi, the Abu Dhabi Health Information Exchange. This groundbreaking project is supported financially by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development through an AED 370 million initiative aimed at transforming Jordan’s healthcare sector.

The Virtual Hospital will feature a unified, AI-powered digital healthcare platform designed to integrate specialty care systems. This platform will connect healthcare facilities throughout Jordan to a central healthcare command center, which will be staffed by multi-specialist physicians and clinical teams. The goal of this innovative ecosystem is to enhance healthcare access, improve patient outcomes, and reduce costs across the region.
As part of this initiative, ATP will create an integrated digital front door for the hospital, serving as a gateway to various specialty care platforms. Additionally, the company will implement its AI-powered virtual kidney care platform, NephroX, which connects dialysis units with virtual nephrologists and nurses for real-time patient monitoring and timely interventions. This system aims to provide rural hospitals with access to specialist physicians while also supporting on-site staff in delivering high-quality care and preventing unnecessary hospitalizations. In the second phase of the project, ATP plans to digitize the entire kidney care ecosystem, emphasizing a value-based care model focused on preventing kidney diseases and facilitating efficient care navigation.
Dr. Waqas Ahmed, the Founder and CEO of American TelePhysicians, expressed his honor in contributing to this transformative international venture that promises to improve healthcare for millions and set new standards for smart healthcare on a global scale. He emphasized that this project showcases the effectiveness of collaboration and innovation, highlighting the trust and support received from visionary partners and government organizations.
Sherri Johnson, the Senior Vice President of Business Development at American TelePhysicians, noted that this initiative is a remarkable opportunity to use advanced digital healthcare solutions to address care gaps, optimize patient outcomes, and create a model that can be replicated in other countries. She emphasized that the integration of technology, expertise, and collaboration is essential for establishing a more accessible and smarter healthcare system worldwide.
ATP also acknowledged the unwavering support provided by the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Commercial Service, U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), and Select Florida, which have facilitated international expansion opportunities for innovative companies. The organization expressed gratitude to its collaborators, including Ahmad AlShamlih (CEO of Experia), Dr. Samir Said, M.D. (Healthcare Informatics Leader at Philips), and the government entities, including the Ministry of Health – Jordan and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MODEE), for their invaluable trust and support in realizing this vision.
