As reported by Khaleej Times, a survey conducted by Bon Charge, a manufacturer of wellness products, included responses from 7,000 participants across four countries: the United States, the UK, the UAE, and Australia. The findings indicated that 70 percent of adults in the UAE reported using red light therapy (RLT), which is significantly higher than adoption rates in other markets. RLT employs low levels of red light to target skin and cells, promoting recovery from wear-and-tear.
Dr. Cherine Bazzane, an expert in Integrative Wellness and Longevity Medicine, noted that consumers in the UAE are becoming increasingly aware of the long-term benefits of their wellness choices. She stated, “In the UAE, we’re witnessing consumers becoming increasingly conscious of the long-term benefits of their wellness choices, seeking solutions that not only address immediate needs, but also support their overall wellbeing in the future.”
Additionally, an earlier survey by Informa, conducted before the Arab Health conference, revealed that the UAE holds the largest share of the wellness market in the region at 23.11 percent, followed by Saudi Arabia at 19.11 percent. A report by Statista projects that the wellness and health coaching market in the UAE will exceed Dh250 million by 2029. According to Blueweave Consulting, the growth of health and fitness clubs in the UAE is driven by rising health awareness, high disposable incomes, and the increasing number of gyms and health clubs.
Observations from Bon Charge indicate that UAE residents are using red light therapy for various benefits, including improving skin appearance, muscle recovery, and enhancing sleep quality. The survey revealed that approximately 71 percent of users are men, with the highest adoption rate—77 percent—among those aged 18 to 24.
Dr. Cherine emphasized the growing trend of at-home wellness technologies, which empower individuals to manage their health independently. She remarked, “There is a particularly notable shift toward at-home wellness technologies—products that empower individuals to take charge of their health without the need for frequent visits to clinics or spas.” These evidence-based solutions are making wellness more accessible and allowing individuals to incorporate self-care into their everyday lives.
The Informa report also highlighted that increased awareness of diseases and healthcare options has spurred rapid growth in the wellness industry. Furthermore, the rise in the geriatric population in the UAE has escalated the demand for services that enhance quality of life. The report noted, “The UAE is expected to set a benchmark in healthcare by prioritising the well-being of its senior citizens,” with innovative wellness programs tailored for older adults, including fitness classes and holistic health treatments.
