Saudi Arabia has achieved the top rank for the third consecutive year in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region according to the 2024 Government Electronic and Mobile Services Maturity Index. This index, published by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, evaluates the effectiveness of government services delivered through electronic applications and online portals.

In 2024, Saudi Arabia outperformed 16 other countries, achieving an impressive maturity rate of 96 percent in digital government service delivery, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency. Ahmed Alsuwaiyan, the governor of the Digital Government Authority, attributed this success to the collaboration among various government agencies and the effective use of technology and artificial intelligence in enhancing service delivery.
Previously, the Kingdom ranked fourth in 2020 and second in 2021 before securing the top position in 2022 and 2023. Alsuwaiyan highlighted that the advancements in digital services have significantly improved essential sectors such as healthcare and education. For instance, the healthcare sector now offers digital prescriptions, appointment bookings, and telehealth services, while the education sector has established remote learning platforms and electronic university admissions.
The ongoing improvements in e-government services align with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to modernize various sectors and enhance the overall quality of life for its citizens and residents.
