The National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) recently conducted an introductory visit to the Sharjah Police General Headquarters as part of its efforts to enhance institutional cooperation and promote human rights in the United Arab Emirates. Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, the Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, welcomed the NHRI delegation led by Chairperson Maqsoud Kruse. The delegation also included NHRI Board of Trustees Members Dr. Ahmed Al Mansoori, Dr. Zayed Al Shamsi, and Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Noman, along with other officials.

The purpose of the visit was to explore mutual cooperation and improve coordination between the NHRI and Sharjah Police to support shared goals. During the meeting, the NHRI delegation provided an overview of its mandate and highlighted its role in protecting and promoting human rights. They stressed the importance of collaboration with police and security authorities to uphold justice and safeguard fundamental rights.
According to Sharjah24, Maqsoud Kruse remarked that the visit underscores the NHRI’s commitment to establishing constructive partnerships with key local institutions. He emphasized the need to raise awareness among personnel in vital sectors regarding the NHRI’s mission and mechanisms, stating, “Together, we can help promote an environment that protects rights and freedoms.”
The visit concluded with a tour of the Sharjah Police General Headquarters, where the NHRI delegation learned about best practices in community engagement and the measures implemented to ensure respect for human rights during security operations.
