The United Arab Emirates is poised to become the first country in the world to utilize artificial intelligence in the creation of new laws and the updating of existing legislation, as reported by MSN. This initiative represents the most ambitious effort globally to integrate AI into the legislative process.

UAE Prime Minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stated that the new AI system aims to enhance the lawmaking process, making it both faster and more accurate. Recently, the government approved the establishment of a special body called the Regulatory Intelligence Office, which will oversee the implementation of AI in the lawmaking process.

The introduction of AI is expected to accelerate the creation of laws by an impressive 70%. To facilitate this, a comprehensive database will be developed, encompassing all federal and local laws, court decisions, and information from public services. AI will analyze this extensive data to suggest legislative changes and evaluate their potential impact on the economy and society.

Currently, no other country has implemented AI to actively rewrite laws; its use has primarily been limited to analytical and optimization tools. However, experts have raised concerns about the potential risks associated with this technology. They caution that AI may produce unstable or even fictitious responses, and its reasoning could be difficult for humans to comprehend.

Vincent Straub, a researcher from Oxford, highlighted that while the concept appears promising, there are dangers in relying solely on machines for legislative matters. In a related context, it was noted that U.S. President Donald Trump announced on January 21 that three major companies would be making significant investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure.
