Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has widened its Bus-On-Demand service to include Oud Metha and Barsha Heights, addressing the growing need for flexible and efficient transport solutions across the city.

Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, shared that the service is designed to offer convenient, cost-effective mobility for just AED 5 per trip. Speaking to Media Office, he highlighted that this expansion helps reduce traffic congestion and ensures smoother travel for commuters.
The Bus-On-Demand service has already been introduced in several areas like Al Barsha, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and Al Nahda, with recent additions such as Business Bay and Downtown Dubai. The latest expansion connects adjacent zones seamlessly, improving the overall public transport network.
The service operates through a smart app, allowing users to book compact 13-seater buses, plan routes, and pay fares digitally. This initiative offers an innovative “first and last mile” solution, linking residential areas to nearby public transport stations.
To optimize the service, RTA conducted surveys and benchmarked global best practices from countries like Spain, Germany, and the USA. The app is available for download on the Apple Store and Google Play, making it easier for residents to access efficient transport options.
