Formed in 2019 by the Department of Community Development, Ma’an channels contributions from both public and private sectors to improve the quality of life in Abu Dhabi. Abdullah Al Ameri, director general of the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an, stated, “Ma’an plays an integral role in enhancing the quality of life for community members in Abu Dhabi,” as reported by The National.

Health Sector

The largest portion, Dh36.8 million, went to nine health projects, including elderly care and covering health insurance costs for those in need. Over 1,118 patients, 448 inmates, and 816 low-income individuals benefited. The funds also helped grieving families by covering burial costs.

Social Sector

Another Dh33.6 million was directed toward 26 social projects. These initiatives empowered community members and provided temporary housing for people whose homes required maintenance, demolition, or rebuilding. Additionally, three air-conditioned rest areas were established for delivery riders to ensure their comfort during breaks.

Education Sector

Education projects received Dh20 million, with Dh6 million allocated to refurbish schools like the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Bangladesh Islamia School and Pakistan Community Welfare School. Other funds supported school fees for children from low-income families and provided assistance to orphans.

Environment and Infrastructure

The environment and infrastructure sector was assigned Dh8.2 million for eight projects. These initiatives focused on sustainable development, environmental preservation, and infrastructure improvements.

Faisal Alhmoudi, Social Investment Fund executive director at Ma’an, highlighted the collaborative efforts between the government, private sector, and non-profits to maximise the impact of these initiatives. He emphasized that promoting shared responsibility and community giving is essential in building an inclusive and thriving society in Abu Dhabi.

Ma’an continues to play a vital role in connecting various entities to fund and implement social projects that address key community needs.
