Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), emphasized the significance of International Women’s Day in 2025, particularly in the context of community development in the United Arab Emirates. Under the theme “Hand in Hand,” he noted the increasing momentum of national initiatives aimed at enhancing women’s active participation in building a cohesive society. This approach reflects the foundational vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and continues under the leadership of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Al Tayer remarked that the leadership, including Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the UAE Women’s Federation, is committed to making women essential partners in achieving national aspirations and preserving cultural heritage. He also stated that DEWA is dedicated to empowering its female employees to drive meaningful change in sustainability and clean energy, celebrating their contributions to a more resilient and inclusive future. The organization has become a model for unleashing the potential and leadership capabilities of women employees across various development fields, particularly in sustainability.
In terms of workforce statistics, Al Tayer revealed that DEWA employs 1,939 women, including 579 in administrative roles and middle management positions, along with several in leadership roles. He highlighted that women hold 37.12% of administrative positions at DEWA, one of the highest rates globally, with Emirati women occupying the majority of these roles. Al Tayer commended the efforts of DEWA’s Women’s Committee in enhancing the skills of female employees across specialized and developmental fields, which aids them in achieving greater local and global successes, thereby increasing their overall satisfaction and the satisfaction of all stakeholders involved.
