The new Dh100 banknote will circulate alongside the existing Dh100 note. Banks and exchange houses have been directed to update their cash deposit machines and counting devices to ensure smooth acceptance of the new notes alongside both paper and polymer versions, all of which are guaranteed by law.

The design of the new banknote is striking, showcasing various shades of red while retaining the color characteristics of the current denomination. The CBUAE has incorporated the UAE nation brand into the design, utilizing advanced printing techniques for the drawings and inscriptions featured on the note.

Prominently displayed on the front of the new banknote is the Um Al Quwain National Fort, a significant cultural landmark. On the reverse side, the Port of Fujairah is depicted, representing one of the country’s largest ports and a major center for shipping and maritime transport.

Additionally, the banknote highlights the Etihad Rail, a key railway network that connects all seven emirates and extends into the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The Etihad Rail is vital for strengthening social ties and supporting sustainable economic growth through its integrated infrastructure and logistics.

This new Dh100 banknote is part of the CBUAE’s Third Issuance of the National Currency Project, designed to reflect the UAE’s success story and its evolution into a global economic and commercial hub.

To combat counterfeiting, the new banknote includes advanced security features such as SPARK Flow DIMENSIONS and multi-coloured security chip technology known as KINEGRAM COLORS. Polymer banknotes offer greater durability and sustainability compared to traditional paper notes, lasting two or more times longer in circulation.

In consideration of all users, the CBUAE has included prominent Braille symbols on the new banknote to assist blind and visually impaired individuals in identifying its value.

Recently, the CBUAE received the ‘Best New Banknote’ award at the 2023 and 2025 High-Security Printing EMEA conference for its Dh500 and Dh1,000 polymer banknotes, which are recognized for their unique designs and innovative security features.
