UAE Companies with December Licenses Urged to Register for Corporate Tax by End of 2024

The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has urged resident companies in the UAE with licenses issued in December to complete their corporate tax registration by December 31, 2024. This applies to all such licenses, regardless of the year they were issued.

In a statement, the FTA emphasized the importance of meeting the deadlines outlined in FTA Decision No. (3) of 2024. These deadlines are part of the implementation of Federal Decree-Law No. (47) of 2022 on corporate and business tax, which came into effect on March 1, 2024. Companies failing to register on time could face administrative fines as per Cabinet Resolution No. (75) of 2023.

The FTA clarified that registration requirements apply to both legal and natural persons, whether residents or non-residents. For companies established before March 1, 2024, the registration deadline depends on the month their license was issued. If a business holds multiple licenses, the registration timeline is based on the earliest issued license. In cases where a license expired on March 1, 2024, the deadline will correspond to the month of that license’s issuance.

Registering for corporate tax is a simple process that can be completed in about 30 minutes via the Emirates Tax digital platform. Existing VAT or excise tax registrants can log into their accounts and submit the required documents. For first-time registrants, creating a new user profile is needed. Businesses can also use the services of approved tax agents listed on the FTA’s website or visit government service centers across the UAE for assistance.

The Authority has advised businesses to review the Corporate Tax Law and related guidelines available on its website for further clarity.
