In his address at the event, Al Hamed emphasized the deepening relationship between the UAE and Kuwait, attributing this bond to the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. He noted that this relationship is continually flourishing, particularly in the media sector, reflecting the historical ties and aspirations of both nations toward a brighter future.

Starting his speech, Al Hamed conveyed greetings from the UAE leadership and expressed gratitude to the forum participants for their efforts to advance media missions and uphold values amid regional and global challenges. He also thanked Kuwait for designating the UAE as the Guest of Honour and acknowledged the successful past sessions of the forum in fostering cooperation among Arab media institutions.

Al Hamed asserted the UAE’s strong belief that media plays a crucial role in development and progress. He stated, “The UAE commits to building a modern media system aligned with global advancements, delivering distinguished content that reflects its Islamic and Arab identity and noble humanitarian values.” He underscored that media should serve as a bridge connecting the past, present, and future.

He also highlighted the significant challenges facing the media today, particularly with the rise of social media. Al Hamed pointed out that while these platforms provide opportunities for connection and knowledge sharing, they are often misused to spread division, hatred, and misinformation. As a solution, he called for the establishment of a joint Arab legislative framework to mitigate these issues.

Al Hamed noted that the Arab region is experiencing a critical phase characterized by rapid changes and challenges. He explained that the overwhelming openness of the digital space necessitates a reassessment of media institutions’ tools and messaging strategies. He stressed the importance of content depth, authenticity, and relevance over mere quantity in persuading audiences.

He advocated for a renewed media discourse that balances professionalism and flexibility while preserving core values. Al Hamed outlined the UAE’s latest media initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of media and building resilience to keep pace with change. These efforts are supported by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s commitment to placing media at the heart of the national development strategy.

Additionally, he announced the launch of the Global “Bridge” Summit by the UAE, which aims to establish international partnerships for an advanced media future. This summit will provide a platform for knowledge, innovation, and shared values, connecting East and West to shape a more responsible and impactful media landscape.

Al Hamed extended an invitation to participants to contribute ideas for advancing Arab media and enhancing its international presence. He emphasized that the insights shared would greatly enrich the summit’s objectives.

He remarked, “The media is used today as the weapon of our time and a powerful tool for change and influence.” He called for media to become an “instrument of construction and development” that fosters communication and dialogue among cultures while reflecting shared values and identities.

He concluded with a call for rebuilding responsible media capable of engagement and competition, stressing that this is an urgent necessity. Al Hamed stated that this effort requires unified Arab media visions, updated messaging, and a focus on sustainable development and the interests of Arab nations.
