Sharjah Ruler Unveils New Building for Sharjah Scout Mission

H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the new building for the Sharjah Scout Mission (SSM) on February 13, 2025. The inauguration coincided with the opening of the 10th International Scout Gathering hosted by SSM, which will continue until February 17, under the theme “Scouting and Sustainable Development.”

During the ceremony, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan unveiled a commemorative plaque marking the building’s official opening. He also signed a scarf featuring the event’s logo and took photos with the organizing committee members, expressing his support for scouting activities. The new facility includes administrative offices, educational and sports amenities, meeting rooms, a theater, and a reception area, providing various services for scouts.

The event commenced with the UAE national anthem, followed by verses from the Quran. Abdullah Saeed Al Suwaidi, the general supervisor of the organizing committee, expressed his gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan for inaugurating the building and attending the gathering. He emphasized the ruler’s unwavering support for scouting and noted that the 10 gatherings held over the past 22 years have made Sharjah a key destination for scouting activities.

Al Suwaidi highlighted that this gathering involves participants from 80 countries and includes 300 delegates, showcasing Sharjah’s significant contributions to Arab and global scouting. He also underlined the gathering’s theme, which promotes cooperation and friendship among youth worldwide, alongside scouting’s role in achieving sustainable development.

Dr. Hani Abdel Wahab, Secretary-General of the Arab Scout Organisation, expressed appreciation for H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan’s support, recognizing Sharjah’s efforts in youth development through international gatherings that impart knowledge and values of tolerance. Scout Robert Dominik from Poland addressed the participants, discussing how international scout gatherings prepare individuals and promote cultural exchange to support sustainable development.

The attendees watched a scout presentation titled “One-Day Camp Activities,” which highlighted scouting’s core objectives of cooperation and overcoming challenges. H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan received a commemorative gift from the organizing committee and was honored with the “Arab Scout Merit Medal,” the highest Arab scout award, for his significant contributions to scouting.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan met with the delegations participating in the 10th International Scout Gathering, welcoming them to Sharjah and thanking them for their efforts in organizing the event. The new building for the Sharjah Scout Mission features a main council for VIPs, a reception area, administrative offices, training rooms equipped with audio-visual facilities, a multipurpose theater, a scout coordinator’s office, and a gym.

The inauguration was attended by notable figures including Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Statistics and Community Development, Sheikh Salem bin Mohammed bin Salem Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Consultative Council, and several senior officials and guests.
