Abu Dhabi to Host 4th ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium 2025

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, Abu Dhabi is set to host the 4th ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium 2025. This significant event is organized by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), alongside an accompanying exhibition. The symposium will take place from February 10 to 12, 2025, and is expected to attract substantial global participation.

Over 1,500 participants are anticipated, including representatives from ICAO’s 193 member states, as well as numerous ministers, heads, and directors general specializing in transport, aviation, and energy. The event will feature an agenda with 150 speakers, including experts, senior government officials, and CEOs from leading companies in these critical sectors. Additionally, the exhibition will showcase 75 global companies that focus on aviation, energy, and advanced technologies.

The symposium will be inaugurated by Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the GCAA Board, alongside Salvatore Sciacchitano, President of the ICAO Council. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri highlighted that hosting such influential international events demonstrates the UAE’s leading role in the civil aviation sector at both regional and global levels. He expressed hope that the symposium would help launch new programs and initiatives that enhance sustainability and competitiveness in the civil aviation sector.

Salvatore Sciacchitano emphasized that the symposium would bring together states, industry leaders, and stakeholders to shape the future of aviation. He noted that the focus would be on two critical areas transforming the industry: sustainability and artificial intelligence, while ensuring safety and security in aviation operations. He stated that sustainability in aviation encompasses not only environmental impact but also long-term economic viability and operational efficiency.

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of GCAA, remarked that hosting the event in Abu Dhabi underscores the UAE’s strategic partnership in developing the civil aviation sector. He pointed out that the launch of the “Global Sustainable Aviation Marketplace” adds special significance to the event, as it addresses the pressing needs of the international aviation sector for a global consensus on low-carbon alternative fuels and aims to boost their production in the coming years.

The event’s agenda will also include participation from prominent officials worldwide, such as Barbara Creecy, Minister of Transport of South Africa, Viliame Rogoibulu Gavoka, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism & Civil Aviation of Fiji, Chief Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe, Minister for Public Works and Transport of Eswatini, Alhaji Fanday Turay, Minister of Transport and Aviation of Sierra Leone, and Abdul Wahab Teffaha, Secretary General of the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO). Additionally, various international speakers will represent government agencies, major companies, and academic institutions specializing in aviation, energy, sustainability, and technology.
