The agreement, which was formalized through Saudi Aramco Technologies Company (SATC), a subsidiary of the Saudi oil giant, signifies a significant step in the development of advanced transportation solutions. Ali A. Al-Meshari, Senior Vice President of Technology Oversight & Coordination at Aramco, mentioned that the company is investigating various methods to optimize transport efficiency, including lower-carbon fuels and innovative powertrain concepts.

In a related development, the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) signed a contract with BYD Energy Storage in February to construct the world’s largest grid-scale energy storage project in Saudi Arabia. Under this contract, BYD will provide 12.5 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity to SEC, further emphasizing the collaboration’s focus on sustainable energy solutions.
