Eni, the Italian energy company, is investing $360 million to drill two new gas wells in Egypt’s Zohr field.

Currently, Eni is utilizing the Zohr-Saipem 10 000 rig to drill slant wells 9 and 13, which represent part of the overall investment totaling $160 million. This ongoing drilling activity is projected to increase the output of the Zohr field by 149 million cubic feet of natural gas per day by the end of May.
The Zohr field is currently producing around 1.5 billion cubic feet per day. This current production level is significantly lower than its peak production, which reached approximately 3.2 billion cubic feet per day in 2019. The new investments are seen as essential to revitalizing the field’s output and supporting Egypt’s energy needs.
