Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) has successfully acquired Valle Solar, one of the largest photovoltaic solar projects in Spain’s Valencia region. This acquisition, made through its subsidiary Saeta, marks a significant investment in renewable energy as the project is set to generate 234 megawatts (MW) of solar energy, with potential hybridization through a battery energy storage system (BESS) of up to 259 MW. Valle Solar is located in the municipalities of Ayora, Jarafuel, and Zarra, and is expected to become operational in the first half of 2027.

Masdar’s investment in Valle Solar highlights the company’s commitment to Spain’s energy transformation and its goal of developing a global clean energy portfolio amounting to 100 gigawatts (GW) by 2030. This announcement follows a recent agreement with Endesa SA, where Masdar acquired a 49.99 percent stake in four solar plants across Spain, collectively boasting a capacity of 446 MW.
The Valle Solar project aims to set a benchmark for sustainable development by incorporating initiatives that protect local biodiversity and support surrounding communities. Masdar emphasized that this project serves as a model for future collaborations in renewable energy, reinforcing both the local economy and environmental sustainability. According to Masdar’s statement, the agreement between Saeta Yield, Genia Solar, and Solar Ventures underscores their dedication to clean energy production while respecting the environment and engaging with the community.
