Tanmiah Food Company has entered into a partnership with Emerge, a joint venture formed by Masdar and the EDF Group, to construct a solar power plant at its facility in Haradh, Saudi Arabia. This collaboration aims to bolster the Kingdom’s clean energy objectives while enhancing Tanmiah’s commitment to sustainability.

Emerge will develop a 3 megawatt-peak (MWp) solar power plant that is projected to provide 35 percent of the electricity needed to run Tanmiah’s agricultural processing facility. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions by over 3,850 tonnes each year, which is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of more than 800 households. The agreement stipulates that Emerge will deliver a full turnkey solution, covering finance, design, procurement, construction, operations, and maintenance of the installation for a period of 25 years.
Zulfiqar Hamadani, the group CEO of Tanmiah, emphasized the importance of sustainability in their business strategy, stating that the signing of the project with Emerge represents a major milestone in their journey towards a sustainable future. He noted that investing in renewable energy not only helps reduce their carbon footprint but also aligns with broader sustainability goals in line with Vision 2030 targets related to renewable energy.
Michel Abi Saab, the General Manager of Emerge, remarked that Saudi Arabia’s agriculture sector is making significant strides in transforming its energy supply. He expressed Emerge’s commitment to supporting businesses like Tanmiah that are eager to implement sustainable and environmentally friendly practices. He added that Tanmiah’s sustainability ambitions are leading within the industry, and powering their facility with solar energy is a crucial step in realizing these goals. Emerge’s turnkey solution allows for smooth installation without upfront costs, simplifying the process for commercial and industrial clients across the region.
This renewable energy partnership aligns with Tanmiah’s long-term vision to become the leading global halal sustainable protein company by 2030. Additionally, the agreement supports Emerge’s mission to assist the agricultural sector in transitioning to clean energy sources without any initial costs. This project marks Emerge’s second initiative focused on decarbonizing agricultural operations in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
Founded in 2021, Emerge specializes in developing distributed solar, battery storage, off-grid solar, and hybrid solutions for commercial and industrial clients. Currently, the company provides clean electricity to 38 sites across the Middle East, including commercial, industrial, educational, and hospitality sectors.
