The UAE is set to install over 500 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations by the end of 2025, a move aimed at promoting clean transportation and reducing carbon emissions. Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, announced this initiative on Monday during the preliminary day of the World Governments Summit.

Al Olama highlighted that the ministry, which holds a 50 percent stake in the UAEV, had already installed more than 100 EV chargers across the country in 2024. He noted that the expansion of the charging network is essential to meet the increasing demand for EVs in the UAE.

The Under-Secretary emphasized that this initiative will follow an integrated approach, partnering with the private sector and local authorities to ensure a strong infrastructure that facilitates the widespread adoption of electric vehicles. This strategy aligns with the UAE’s national sustainability goals, which include increasing renewable energy capacity to over 14 gigawatts by 2030, as part of its commitment to clean energy development.
