This initiative aligns with MBRSG’s mission to foster smart transformation and to empower leaders and decision-makers in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence (AI) sector. The programme aims to cultivate institutional models for the ethical and responsible use of advanced technologies, reflecting the UAE’s national strategy to solidify its position as a global leader in AI and to enhance community awareness regarding the ethical implications of AI systems.

According to ZAWYA, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has expressed a forward-thinking vision by advocating for the inclusion of artificial intelligence in academic curricula. This is part of an effort to nurture a generation of students capable of mastering future tools and leading with an ethical approach that aligns with global digital transformations.

Furthermore, this programme is tailored to help participants assess Autonomous Intelligent Systems (AIS) against key benchmarks such as transparency, accountability, privacy, and algorithmic bias mitigation. The IEEE CertifAIEd™ framework provides a unique opportunity for participants to earn the IEEE CertifAIEd™ Assessor qualification, thereby enhancing ethical compliance within their institutions.

His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Sebaa Al Marri, Executive President of MBRSG, emphasized the importance of this programme, stating that it demonstrates their commitment to preparing national talents to create sound policies in artificial intelligence. He noted that this initiative balances technological advancement with ethical responsibility, ultimately fostering an advanced knowledge-based environment that aligns with the UAE’s vision for exemplary digital governance.

Dr. Al Marri added that the programme equips participants to tackle the ethical challenges posed by emerging technologies, enabling them to devise informed strategies that advocate for responsible innovation, transparency, and accountability in smart applications.

Alpesh Shah, Managing Director of the IEEE Standards Association, highlighted the critical role of confidence in AI technology. He mentioned that the IEEE CertifAIEd™ programme offers a comprehensive framework for evaluating smart applications, ensuring they meet rigorous standards for transparency, privacy, algorithmic bias, and accountability. By adopting this framework, organizations can responsibly navigate the complexities of AI deployment.

The governance of AI systems is essential for organizations in an evolving digital landscape. It is vital to ensure that societal well-being is considered in the introduction and development of artificial systems. This educational programme prepares the next generation of business and technology leaders to design solutions that benefit both people and the planet while fostering trust in AI systems.

Designed for professionals across various sectors, the programme targets individuals in strategy, compliance, data governance, technology, and innovation, including compliance officers, data protection officers, technical advisors, product developers, and AI and data science experts.

The training covers significant topics including strategic principles of AI ethics, IEEE CertifAIEd™ criteria, and ethical assessments of smart applications. Practical sessions and an exam will allow participants to earn the CertifAIEd™ Assessor qualification, a key step for joining the IEEE CertifAIEd™ Assessors network, which guides institutions in building innovative and ethical smart systems.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a globally recognized IEEE certificate and the chance to engage with experts in AI and ethics, such as Dr. Fadi Salem, MBRSG’s Director of Policy Research and an international AI policy expert, and Akmaral Orazaly, a developer of AI ethics tools in Dubai.
