The Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment (MBRHE) has introduced a new training initiative called “How to Build Your Home?” in collaboration with the New Economy Academy. This program aims to empower young Emirati citizens, especially those preparing for marriage, by providing them with essential knowledge about planning and constructing homes efficiently and sustainably, as reported by Khaleej Times.

The training program, which began on Tuesday, will run for three days and is designed to equip participants with skills in budget management, optimal resource utilization, and how to avoid common construction pitfalls. Dr. Laila Faridoon, CEO of the New Economy Academy, emphasized that the integrated training will help young Emiratis within MBRHE develop a comprehensive understanding of home construction.

Omar Bushahab, CEO of MBRHE, mentioned that the program targets 300 Emiratis looking to build their own homes. The initiative involves contributions from various experts across both government and private sectors, including the Community Development Authority, Dubai Municipality, and the Federal Tax Authority.

Participants will receive a comprehensive guide that includes housing services, construction guidelines, smart systems, and sustainable home management practices. The training sessions will cover critical topics such as estimating construction costs, setting an appropriate budget, and selecting home dimensions that align with financial resources and family needs.

Khalid Al Bustani, Director-General of the Federal Tax Authority, highlighted the importance of tax literacy, urging participants to retain all invoices related to residential payments to reclaim VAT on housing expenses. To be eligible for VAT reimbursement, applicants must meet specific criteria, including being UAE citizens and ensuring expenses relate to a newly built home for personal use.

This initiative aligns with the UAE President’s ‘Year of Community’ and is part of the ‘Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme.’ The program aims to reinforce Emirati values and strengthen family stability, which is essential for social cohesion and national development. MBRHE has also created a guidebook titled “How to Build Your Home,” which is available for download on their website, providing support to citizens throughout the home construction process.
