The University of Sharjah (UOS) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) aimed at enhancing academic and research collaboration between the two institutions. This agreement, signed on February 10, 2025, will facilitate the exchange of expertise and the development of joint academic programs.
The MoU was officially signed by Prof. Yousef Haik, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at UOS, and Prof. Artem Malgin, Vice Rector of MGIMO. The signing ceremony was attended by notable officials, including Prof. Abdelaziz Soufyane, Director of the International Relations Office, and Dr. Asmaa Awad, Director of the Language Institute.
This collaboration aims to foster cooperation in creating and implementing joint academic and research programs, as well as initiatives for student and faculty exchanges in related academic fields. The focus will particularly be on linguistics and cross-cultural communication, promoting a comprehensive understanding of these disciplines.
Additionally, the agreement seeks to organize joint conferences, symposiums, and workshops, while launching collaborative academic programs and research projects. These activities are designed to contribute to the advancement of higher education and scientific research.
Prof. Yousef Haik emphasized the importance of international partnerships with leading academic institutions, noting their role in enriching knowledge exchange and improving academic standards. He stated that such collaborations allow UOS to adopt global best practices and provide faculty and students with exposure to varied academic environments, ultimately preparing graduates for future challenges.
In his remarks, Prof. Artem Malgin presented an overview of MGIMO’s history and achievements, highlighting its diverse academic offerings in fields such as international studies, business administration, sciences, and engineering. He asserted that this agreement marks a significant step in enhancing international collaboration in research, teaching, academic development, and international relations between the two universities.
