Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Shanghai Stemstar Education Technology Co., Ltd., a leading education technology company based in Shanghai, China. This collaboration is a significant advancement in strengthening research and development (R&D) capabilities, promoting innovation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), and preparing students to address global challenges related to sustainability and technology.

The MoU was officially signed by Professor Ghassan Aouad, Chancellor of ADU, and Deepak Tyagi, Director of Shanghai Stemstar. The signing ceremony included notable attendees such as Dr. Hamad Odhabi, ADU’s Vice Chancellor for AI and Operational Excellence, Prof. Barry O’Mahony, Provost of ADU, and Salem Al Dhaheri, ADU’s Executive Director of Community Relations.
As part of this partnership, ADU and Shanghai Stemstar will create a state-of-the-art R&D Centre at the university. This centre will act as a hub for advancing research in areas including Artificial Intelligence (AI), STEM, and sustainability. The collaboration aims to provide training in AI for high school students, develop tailored professional development programmes for Shanghai Stemstar employees, and support joint academic initiatives, including ADU’s key conferences like the ‘International Conference on Advancing Sustainable Future (ICASF).’
Furthermore, ADU and Shanghai Stemstar will conduct training and research programmes, facilitate knowledge exchange initiatives, provide networking opportunities, and organize student-focused camps in high-demand areas such as AI, STEM, and sustainability. Professor Aouad emphasized that this strategic partnership creates a dynamic platform to enhance STEM education and innovation, along with AI training, which will lead to transformative opportunities for both students and faculty.
Deepak Tyagi highlighted that this collaboration allows for a combination of academic rigor with practical innovation. He stated that their joint efforts are aimed at inspiring the next generation of leaders and innovators who will contribute to shaping a brighter future.
