The University of Sharjah will host the second General Assembly of the Regional Conference of University Presidents in the Middle East, known as “R2C”, from February 5 to 6, 2025. The event is being held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah. This important gathering will bring together leaders and presidents from member universities of the Agency for Francophone Universities in the Middle East.

This year’s conference aims to enhance collaboration and the exchange of expertise among Francophone universities. Discussions will center on frameworks for cooperation, the enhancement of joint initiatives and programs, student exchange opportunities, and research collaborations. Key themes will include employability and professional integration, as well as the incorporation of skills into academic curricula.
Additionally, the conference will address the significance of Francophone scientific initiatives and the role of the French language in the Middle East. Various sessions, workshops, and meetings are planned, where bilateral agreements between member universities will be signed. Cultural activities and astronomical displays will also take place at the Sharjah Academy of Astronomy, Space Science, and Technology.
The conference will wrap up with a closed-door meeting involving all presidents and chancellors of the member universities. During this session, the participants will review the outcomes of the conference, make necessary decisions, and determine the location for the next year’s gathering.
