The Sharjah Livestock Market (SLM) recently hosted a delegation from the Abu Dhabi Municipality’s Animal Welfare Department. This visit was part of ongoing efforts to improve collaboration and share expertise among government bodies in the UAE. The delegation aimed to review best practices and operational procedures related to the sale and slaughter of animals, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a safe and healthy environment that aligns with animal welfare values.

During their visit, the delegation received a detailed presentation on the operational mechanisms of the market and slaughterhouse. This included information on the regulatory and preventive measures in place to ensure animal safety and the quality of services provided to customers. They also examined the operational policies that govern slaughter operations and livestock handling, which are designed to meet high health and environmental standards.
Engineer Abdullah Al Shamsi, the Director of Sharjah City Markets, noted that the visit illustrates the commitment to knowledge sharing and collaboration aimed at enhancing the quality of livestock market services across the nation. He emphasized that at the Sharjah Market, there is a strong focus on upholding the highest operational and health standards, prioritizing animal welfare, and creating a comprehensive and safe environment for both clients and livestock.
The Abu Dhabi Municipality delegation praised the Sharjah Livestock Market for its organization, technological advancements, and administrative improvements. They specifically acknowledged the regulations and practices implemented at the market that ensure animal welfare and adherence to relevant laws and standards.
