In February 2025, Japan sourced 38.4% of its oil imports from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with the total amounting to 25.8 million barrels. This data was reported by the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, which operates under Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

During the same month, Japan’s overall oil imports reached 67.3 million barrels. Notably, Arab oil constituted a significant portion of these imports, making up 97.3% or 65.48 million barrels. This highlights the critical role that Arab nations play in ensuring Japan’s energy security.
The figures underscore the strong energy ties between Japan and the UAE, emphasizing the importance of maintaining robust trade relations in the oil sector. As the demand for energy continues to grow, such partnerships are vital for both countries’ economic stability and energy needs.
