In her remarks, Dr. Al Dahak reiterated the ambitious objectives of the UAE Consensus, established at COP28. This consensus calls for tripling renewable energy capacity and doubling energy efficiency by the year 2030. According to WAM, she urged nations to enhance their commitments, prioritize flexibility in projects, and incentivize private investments. “The world is watching, and the time for action is now,” the minister stated, advocating for global cooperation towards “a cleaner, greener, more sustainable energy future.”

During a press conference at the Assembly, Dr. Al Dahak raised awareness about the urgent need to close the gap in renewable energy deployment. She emphasized the UAE’s dedication to supporting developing nations through focused investments, including ALTÉRRA, recognized as the world’s largest private climate investment fund, along with the Africa Green Investment Initiative that promotes clean energy projects across Africa.

The minister called for a collaborative and inclusive strategy in the global energy transition, encouraging nations to set ambitious renewable energy targets and to foster environments conducive to private investment. She also pointed out the significance of IRENA’s platform in measuring international progress and guiding strategic decisions as preparations begin for COP30 in Belém.

Beyond the formal proceedings, Dr. Al Dahak participated in an engaging IRENA Youth Fireside Chat, where she emphasised the critical role of youth in addressing climate issues. She encouraged young attendees to seize opportunities in the renewable energy sector, highlighting their distinct perspectives and potential for leadership. Drawing from her own career experiences, she advised aspiring young leaders to be decisive, cultivate strong partnerships, and maintain a clear vision for the future.

Through its proactive diplomacy and investments in renewable energy, the UAE remains committed to advancing the global energy transition. The country’s ongoing focus on innovation, strategic partnerships, and impactful solutions reflects its dedication to fostering a sustainable future for all, aligned with the ambitious goals outlined in the UAE Consensus.
