UAE President Appoints New Leadership for UAE Aid Agency

The UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has issued a Federal Decree appointing new leadership for the UAE Aid Agency. According to the official announcement by WAM, H.E. Dr. Tareq Ahmed Mohamed Al Ameri has been named Chairman, while H.E. Sultan Mohamed Saeed Al Shamsi will serve as Vice Chairman.

Dr. Al Ameri, who currently leads the Office of Development Affairs at the Presidential Court, brings a strong academic and professional background to the role. His career includes leadership roles at the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, the General Secretariat of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and the Ministry of Interior. He holds a Ph.D. in Process Systems Engineering from Imperial College London, an MBA from Abu Dhabi University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.

H.E. Sultan Al Shamsi brings over 30 years of experience in foreign aid and humanitarian work. He has held significant roles, such as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organisations and Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of International Cooperation and Development. Al Shamsi has been pivotal in shaping the UAE’s foreign aid strategy, including drafting the nation’s first foreign aid policy. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Information Systems and a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems.

The UAE Aid Agency is responsible for overseeing the country’s foreign aid programmes, managing developmental projects, and providing humanitarian relief efforts. This new leadership aims to continue advancing the UAE’s commitment to global humanitarian support and international development.
