UAE and Portugal Collaborate on Public Resource Protection

The UAE and Portugal have taken steps to strengthen their partnership in safeguarding public resources. Humaid Obaid Abushibs, Chairman of the UAE Accountability Authority (UAEAA), recently wrapped up an official visit to Lisbon, where he held discussions with Portuguese officials on enhancing oversight and promoting integrity.

During the visit, Abushibs met key figures, including Filipa Urbano Calvão, President of Portugal’s Court of Auditors, and António Pires da Graça, Head of the National Anti-Corruption Mechanism. These meetings aimed to share expertise and explore new ways to improve auditing processes and prevent corruption.

The UAE Accountability Authority highlighted its current efforts to strengthen governance systems, focusing on transparency and accountability. It also presented innovative technical solutions designed to enhance the efficiency of audits and oversight mechanisms.

The UAEAA emphasized that such collaborations align with the UAE’s broader strategy to adopt global best practices and improve international cooperation in governance and resource management.

The visit served to underline the importance of shared knowledge and coordinated efforts in achieving sustainable practices for protecting public resources.
