Laurent Saint-Martin, France’s Delegate Minister for Foreign Trade and French Nationals Abroad, stated that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) holds a top-tier position in France’s economic and trade policy within the Gulf region. He emphasized the depth and distinction of bilateral relations, particularly focusing on economic and diplomatic collaboration.

Saint-Martin declared, “The UAE is undoubtedly a priority for France among Gulf nations.” He elaborated that the UAE is not only a significant regional and economic force but also a modern development model that aligns with France’s vision for future international relations, which is rooted in innovation, sustainability, and openness. He expressed France’s intention to strengthen partnerships with countries that share similar strategic outlooks and values, highlighting the UAE’s suitability as a partner.
On the subject of economic ties, Minister Saint-Martin pointed out that France has one of the oldest and most solid records of trade and investment relations with the UAE in the Gulf region. He remarked that these ties are established on mutual trust, understanding, and long-term respect rather than temporary alliances. He added, “We have worked with the UAE for decades, and we take pride in what our companies have achieved in the Emirati market.”
He noted that there is a significant opportunity to expand cooperation in response to global economic shifts, through partnerships that are driven by innovation and high-quality initiatives. The minister urged business communities in both countries to capitalize on the current momentum to strengthen ties between Emirati and French companies, especially in areas like advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, and green transformation.
Saint-Martin also highlighted the need to transition from traditional cooperation to more productive, integrated partnerships, emphasizing that companies should collaborate more effectively and cohesively.
In terms of diplomatic relations, he described the UAE-France partnership as strong and enduring, backed by ongoing dialogue and strategic coordination across multiple fronts. Saint-Martin expressed confidence that cooperation between the two nations is set to grow amid evolving global challenges, asserting that “we live in a fast-changing world.” He concluded by stating that as challenges become more complex—whether environmental, digital, or economic—trusted and forward-looking partners like the UAE are essential.
