UAE and Australia Strengthen Diplomatic Ties During Meeting

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Australian Governor-General Sam Mostyn AC in Abu Dhabi to discuss enhancing bilateral relations. This meeting comes as both countries reaffirm their commitment to deepening cooperation, particularly since the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) last year.

During the discussions held at Qasr Al Shati, the leaders reviewed various regional and international issues of mutual interest, especially the developments occurring in the Middle East, as reported by the national news agency Wam. Mostyn, who is currently on an official visit to the UAE, commended the progress made in the bilateral relationship and reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to strengthening ties.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of fostering peaceful solutions to global conflicts through dialogue, highlighting the need for approaches that serve the interests of humanity and promote global prosperity. Sheikh Mohamed noted that this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the UAE and Australia, expressing the UAE’s eagerness to advance ties further in key sectors such as trade, investment, sustainability, culture, education, food security, and technology. The CEPA is viewed as a vital framework for stimulating economic cooperation, fostering trade, and creating favorable conditions for business communities in both nations to enhance coordination, investment, and the development of joint ventures.
