The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) has introduced a new service called the “Instant Licence,” aimed at accelerating the business setup process and encouraging investment in the emirate. This initiative received approval from the Sharjah Executive Council.

With the Instant Licence, entrepreneurs and investors can obtain a commercial licence within just one working day. Notably, this process does not require the submission of a Memorandum of Association (MoA) or a signed lease contract for the first year, simplifying the initial steps for new businesses.
This initiative aligns with Sharjah’s broader goals of economic diversification, enhancing the ease of doing business, and stimulating growth in key sectors. The licence is applicable to all office-based activities that do not require additional approvals from other government entities. Each licence allows for a maximum of three employees.
According to Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, the SEDD Chairman, the department is committed to continuously developing a legislative and regulatory environment that fosters business growth and sustainability, in line with international best practices.
SEDD highlights that the Instant Licence particularly benefits startups and businesses looking to expand into new economic activities, enabling them to establish a presence in Sharjah with fewer legal and administrative hurdles initially. After the first year, companies will need to comply with standard licensing obligations.
The Instant Licence is a strategic component of SEDD’s efforts to position Sharjah as a global investment destination by providing high-quality services and regulatory frameworks that promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and long-term sustainability.
