Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, met with Suzan Kereere, the President of Global Markets at PayPal, to explore collaboration in the evolving digital payments sector. Their discussions focused on further developing the 15-year partnership between Emirates and PayPal.

Currently, Emirates offers PayPal as a payment option on its website across 34 countries, providing customers with a streamlined, fast, and secure checkout process for booking their travel. The airline has reported a significant increase in customer adoption, usage frequency, and transaction volumes with PayPal over the past year.
In addition to this partnership, PayPal recently established its first regional headquarters in Dubai, aimed at enhancing support for consumers and businesses throughout the Middle East and Africa. The headquarters is intended to help businesses of all sizes improve their commerce capabilities and facilitate cross-border sales.
Dubai is rapidly becoming a global hub for fintech, taking advantage of its strategic location, favorable business policies, and robust financial infrastructure. The city has attracted numerous major fintech companies and supported the growth of local startups, establishing fintech accelerators and clusters, as well as ‘sandboxes’ for startups to test their innovations.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Sheikh Ahmed noted that the discussions highlighted a shared commitment to advancing Emirates’ ambitious goals. He expressed optimism about driving meaningful growth through collaboration, stating, “With Dubai at the forefront of digital transformation, we look forward to driving meaningful growth through impactful collaboration.”
This meeting aligns with Dubai’s D33 Agenda, an initiative aimed at establishing the emirate as a leading global center for innovation and the digital economy.
