United Global Ro-Ro, a joint venture between Noatum Maritime, part of the AD Ports Group’s Maritime & Shipping Cluster, and Erkport, has celebrated a significant milestone with the maiden voyage of its first LNG-powered Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) at Autoterminal Khalifa Port. The arrival of the vessel, named UGR Al Samha, marks the beginning of the company’s vision to provide sustainable and efficient Ro-Ro logistics on global trade routes.

According to Zawya, the advanced vessel has a cargo capacity of over 7 000 car equivalent units (CEU) distributed across 12 decks. It is specifically designed to optimize the transportation of high and heavy cargo, catering to critical markets in the Middle East, Asia, and the Mediterranean. By utilizing LNG propulsion technology and integrating advanced vessel design with strategic port operations, United Global Ro-Ro is providing an environmentally responsible shipping solution, aligning with the UAE’s decarbonization targets.
Captain Ammar Al Shaiba, CEO of the Maritime & Shipping Cluster at AD Ports Group, emphasized that the maiden call of UGR Al Samha at Khalifa Port is a pivotal moment not just for United Global Ro-Ro, but also for the company’s strategy of investing in vessels and technologies that reduce environmental impact. He noted that this vessel enhances their capacity to provide competitive and reliable Ro-Ro solutions to global trade partners in an eco-conscious way.
Tolga Emrah Gezgin, CEO of United Global Ro-Ro, expressed satisfaction in successfully completing their first voyage, marking the start of their partnership with Noatum Maritime in Ro-Ro transportation and finished vehicle logistics. He highlighted that their eco-friendly model aims to minimize both costs and environmental impact while promoting sustainable solutions through reduced carbon emissions in Ro-Ro logistics. Following its maiden voyage, UGR Al Samha will operate on regular routes connecting key automotive and industrial hubs, addressing the rising demand for sustainable vehicle transportation.
The inaugural call event at Khalifa Port brought together industry stakeholders, partners, and potential customers to showcase the vessel’s advanced capabilities and the strategic role that United Global Ro-Ro will play in enhancing global Ro-Ro trade.
