Dubai Duty Free Sales Surpass Dh2 Billion in First Quarter

Dubai Duty Free has announced impressive sales of Dh2.06 billion ($565 million) for the first quarter of 2025. This strong performance was driven primarily by a record-setting February, which saw sales reach Dh709 million ($194 million).

Among the top-selling categories were perfumes, beverages, tobacco, gold, and confectionery. Perfume sales alone hit Dh371 million, contributing 18 percent to total revenue. Beverages followed closely with sales of Dh258 million, while tobacco sales increased by 11 percent year-on-year, totaling Dh220 million. Gold sales stood at Dh212 million, accounting for 10 percent of total revenue.

Confectionery marked a significant milestone by achieving robust growth, with sales reaching Dh207 million—a 57 percent increase compared to the previous year. This category also contributed 10 percent to total revenue.

Dubai Duty Free plans to enhance its retail offerings throughout 2025. This includes opening new boutiques in Concourse A that will feature luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Cartier, and Chanel. Additionally, the events calendar is packed, with the Dubai Duty Free Spring Trials scheduled for April 11 and 12 at the Newbury Racecourse in the UK, followed by the UAE Nationals Cup at the Montgomerie Golf Club on May 3.

Ramesh Cidambi, managing director of Dubai Duty Free, expressed satisfaction with the sales performance, particularly in February when daily sales averaged Dh25.3 million ($6.93 million). He credited the hardworking team for consistently meeting sales targets.

Furthermore, renovations in the arrivals shops have positively impacted sales, which reached Dh125 million in the first quarter. Cidambi remarked on the improvements in the retail shops located in Terminals 1 and 2, with further enhancements expected to boost business once Terminal 3 Arrivals shop 4 is completed next month.
