According to a statement released yesterday, Metal Park plans to complete the metal storage center in the free zone at KIZAD in three phases, with a total investment of AED 110 million. Once fully operational, the center’s total storage capacity will reach 350,000 metric tons, along with 54,000 cubic meters of metal shelving.

The facility is notable for being the first of its kind in the world to employ a “pay-per-use” system in the metals sector, and it is also the first warehouse entirely dedicated to metal storage. The first phase of the project will cover an area of 93,000 square meters and will feature 26 overhead cranes with a capacity of up to 40 metric tons each. Additionally, there will be 55 loading platforms designated for trucks and autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs), allowing for the handling of 48,000 metric tons daily.

The center will also incorporate advanced technologies such as vertical storage, cantilever loading systems for trucks, and three bridge scales—two measuring 15 meters in length, each with a capacity of 150 metric tons, and one measuring 30 meters with the same capacity. Furthermore, the metal storage center will be a closed facility equipped with the latest surveillance technologies.

Abdullah Al Hamli, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports’ Economic Cities and Free Zones, stated that the launch of this unique storage center represents a significant advancement for both Metal Park and the economic cities and free zones sector. This initiative aligns with the group’s efforts to develop and expand a specialized area in the metals sector.

Meanwhile, Saleh Sharistani, Chairman of Metal Park, emphasized that the metal storage center is the only facility of its kind in the Middle East, specifically designed to meet the needs of the metals sector with such a high level of efficiency.
