Spring Valley, a UAE-based agro-commodity supplier, is investing AED 184 million to establish a new distribution hub at the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza). This initiative aims to enhance regional food security and is projected to play a crucial role in the UAE’s food supply chain

The new facility will cover over 100k square feet and will include advanced processing and storage capabilities. These will encompass consumer packaging, as well as roasting and grinding operations. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed within two years, and once fully operational, the hub will process more than sixty-five thousand metric tons of staple food ingredients, such as pulses, spices, and nuts. This is anticipated to generate over AED 440 million in annual turnover.
Abdulla Al Hashmi, Chief Operating Officer of Parks & Zones at DP World GCC, expressed his enthusiasm for Spring Valley’s arrival at Jafza. He noted that with 80% of the region’s food supply being imported and global demand projected to increase for two billion additional people by 2050, food security has become more critical than ever. Al Hashmi highlighted Dubai’s vital role in the UAE’s food trade, managing 75% of the nation’s food and beverage imports, and reiterated Jafza’s commitment to fostering innovation in food supply solutions.
In alignment with Dubai’s renewable energy goals, the facility will operate with 100% sustainable and carbon-neutral processing, featuring a solar power plant. It will also comply with the highest international food safety standards, including HACCP and BRCGS certifications.
Jafza continues to be a significant player in the UAE’s food trade, hosting over 770 food and beverage businesses, which reflects a 14% growth year-on-year. In 2023, the food and beverage sector within Jafza facilitated trade valued at AED 23.2 billion, accounting for 26% of Dubai’s total food and beverage trade value.
