Abu Dhabi is enhancing its defense and aerospace capabilities with significant upgrades at XRANGE, an international facility focused on training, testing, and evaluation (TT&E) in multiple domains. Operated by REMAYA, XRANGE aims to strengthen its services for clients in the defense, aerospace, and commercial sectors.

One of the key developments includes the construction of a secondary runway measuring 1.2 kilometers at the Abu Al Abyad aerodrome, along with two new emergency runways of 800 meters each. These enhancements are intended to improve the recovery of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) during emergency situations. With these additions, XRANGE aspires to double its operational capacity, allowing for simultaneous takeoffs and landings in an efficient testing environment.
Furthermore, a new environmental testing center has been established to conduct component tests under extreme conditions. The completion of a Drone Training Villa will enable flight simulations in urban environments. Additionally, access to airspace has been expanded, providing a 100 km by 25 km air corridor, which will facilitate more flexible aerial operations for clients.
Haitham Awinat, the CEO of REMAYA, stated that these improvements enhance operational flexibility and streamline product development processes for their clients, ultimately accelerating market delivery of solutions. XRANGE is also focusing on developing ballistic testing capabilities and vehicle blast protection, aligning with international standards to emphasize safety and effectiveness in the sector.
