As reported by Gulf News, the announcement was made during the third edition of the 1 Billion Followers Summit, which brought together over 15,000 creators and more than 420 speakers from around the globe. The event also introduced a $1 million award for purposeful content creators and the One Billion Pitches competition, which attracted over ten investment funds and secured Dh50 million to support influencers.
Meta chose the UAE for this initiative because of its leadership in digital media and content creation. The country’s innovative and inclusive environment, with residents from over 195 nationalities, made it an ideal location.
Moon Baz, Meta’s Global Partnerships Lead for Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey, highlighted the importance of the partnership, saying it aligns with their mission to empower creators with tools and knowledge to expand their impact. Baz emphasized the goal of promoting original and meaningful content that drives societal growth.
Alia AlHammadi, Vice Chairperson of the UAE Government Media Office and CEO of the 1 Billion Followers Summit, said the UAE is shaping the future of digital media. She explained that the initiative aims to build a strong content industry in the region, helping creators improve their skills and reach larger audiences.
Both organizations believe this collaboration marks a shift toward digital platforms playing a larger role in shaping societal values and narratives, with the goal of fostering positive change globally.
