Bahrain’s Khaleeji Bank has introduced Visa+, a new service that allows users to send money to Visa cardholders in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) using only the recipient’s mobile number. This initiative positions Khaleeji Bank among the first financial institutions to offer such a service, showcasing the market’s readiness for advanced financial solutions.

With Visa+, customers can transfer funds to Visa debit and prepaid cardholders in other GCC countries without the need for sensitive information like 16-digit card numbers or International Bank Account Numbers (IBANs). This feature enhances security and convenience for users, streamlining the money transfer process.
Ameera Al Abbasi, the head of retail banking at Khaleeji Bank, stated that the launch of Visa+ signifies a transformative shift in money transfers. She emphasized the bank’s commitment to providing modern, secure, and intuitive banking solutions that meet the evolving needs of customers. Al Abbasi highlighted that this service enables effortless money transfers across the GCC, requiring only a mobile number—no card details or account numbers are necessary.
Additionally, Visa+ enhances the money transfer experience for financial institutions while strengthening privacy protections for both senders and recipients. The service is versatile and can be used for various purposes, including peer-to-peer payments, loan disbursements, and cross-border remittances.
