flydubai has officially begun construction on its new Aircraft Maintenance Centre at Dubai South. This multimillion-dollar facility is expected to be completed by the last quarter of 2026, enhancing the carrier’s control over maintenance processes and significantly improving turnaround times for its expanding fleet.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place with a senior delegation that included Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South. He was joined by Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of flydubai, along with representatives from the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH).
Al Zaffin emphasized that this facility underscores their commitment to supporting the aviation sector with cutting-edge infrastructure, further establishing Dubai as a prominent global hub for aviation. Meanwhile, Al Ghaith highlighted that this development is a strategic move to accommodate their increasing maintenance needs and reinforces their dedication to innovation and operational efficiency, supporting Dubai’s status as a leader in aviation and business excellence.
The agreement for the construction of the Aircraft Maintenance Centre was signed during the 2023 Dubai Airshow, marking a significant step for flydubai. The centre will be strategically located near Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), which is anticipated to become the largest airport in the world upon its completion.
This new facility will support a growing team of over 600 skilled engineers who will work in various departments, including Line Maintenance, Technical Services, Materials, and Workshops. Their primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety and airworthiness of flydubai’s fleet.
