Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has officially signed a “One-Stop Security” agreement with the United Kingdom. This agreement was signed in London by GACA President Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej and Rannia Leontaridi, the Director General for Aviation, Maritime and Security Group in the U.K. Department for Transport (DfT).

The agreement allows security screening procedures conducted at U.K. airports to be recognized for passengers traveling to Saudi Arabia and onward to various global destinations. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), this deal represents a significant advancement that strengthens the Kingdom’s position as a global aviation hub. It enhances the passenger experience by reducing transit times and eliminating unnecessary procedures, while still ensuring high standards of security and safety.
Under the terms of the agreement, screening of passengers and baggage at U.K. airports will be accepted upon arrival in Saudi Arabia. This means there will be no need for re-screening or unloading of baggage, thereby minimizing wait times for passengers. The streamlined process not only improves traveler satisfaction but also enhances airport operational efficiency and optimizes airline scheduling by reducing ground time.
Furthermore, this agreement is set to increase security and technical cooperation between the two nations. It facilitates the sharing of best practices and data related to risk management and threat assessment. This initiative is part of GACA’s wider efforts to enhance the passenger experience and position Saudi airports as competitive global hubs, leveraging advanced technologies and digital solutions while upholding the highest standards of aviation security and safety.
