Abu Dhabi, UAE – Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, is expanding its fleet by confirming an order for 28 wide-body Boeing aircraft. This order is part of the airline’s long-term strategy to double its size by 2030, reflecting Etihad’s commitment to align its fleet with changing network and operational needs.

The agreement includes a combination of Boeing 787 and 777X aircraft, which will be powered by GE engines and come with a comprehensive services package. These new aircraft are expected to join Etihad’s fleet starting in 2028 and will enhance the airline’s plans for improved connectivity, operational efficiency, and guest experience.

Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, stated that this commitment demonstrates their strategy of managing the fleet carefully and expanding in accordance with demand and their long-term network plans. He emphasized that since 2023, the airline has consistently added to its fleet, ensuring it meets future requirements.

Etihad is currently in the process of finalizing a detailed plan that will guide the airline’s strategy through to 2035. The newly ordered Boeing aircraft will play a crucial role in this evolving roadmap, enabling the airline to provide exceptional customer experiences while maintaining financial sustainability.

Neves also highlighted that this addition represents Abu Dhabi’s ongoing investment in aviation, which is vital for enhancing connectivity, tourism, and trade. He noted that Etihad’s growth contributes to broader economic opportunities in the UAE and beyond.
