Dubai International Airport has recorded over 5 million scheduled seats for international flights in April 2025, bringing the total to nearly 10 million in both directions. This figure contributes to an overall total of 20.24 million scheduled seats at the airport during the first four months of the year, equivalent to 40.48 million seats in both directions. According to a report from the international data provider OAG, this achievement positions Dubai International Airport as the world’s largest air travel hub.

The airport continues to outperform previous year levels, with a 2.5% increase in seat capacity in April compared to the same month in 2024. Overall, the seat capacity in the first four months of 2025 has risen by approximately 3.3% compared to the same period last year. The OAG report, which was shared with “Emirates Today,” confirms that Dubai International maintained its status as the leading air transport hub in April 2025, having recorded 5.16 million seats in March, 4.78 million in February, and 5.3 million in January of the same year.
This growth in seat capacity at Dubai International is attributed to the attraction of new airlines, the opening of additional routes, and the introduction of extra flights to existing destinations, following a strong performance in international traffic throughout 2024. Internationally, Heathrow Airport in London ranked second with approximately 4.1 million seats, while Singapore’s airport followed with 3.5 million seats, Amsterdam placed fourth with about 3.4 million seats, and Seoul’s international airport came fifth with around 3.3 million seats.
In addition to its international ranking, Dubai International Airport also secured the second position globally for total seat capacity on both international and domestic flights combined, trailing only behind Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which recorded approximately 5.19 million seats in April. Tokyo Haneda ranked third with about 4.5 million seats, followed by London Heathrow in fourth place with around 4.3 million seats, and Istanbul’s airport in fifth with approximately 4.2 million seats.
Dubai International Airport set a new benchmark in the global aviation sector by welcoming 92.3 million passengers in 2024, marking the highest annual traffic in the airport’s history. This achievement surpasses the previous record of 89.1 million passengers set in 2018. Currently, the airport operates flights to 272 destinations across 107 countries, serviced by 106 international airlines.
