Red Sea Global (RSG) and daa International, the operator of The Red Sea International Airport (RSI), have signed an agreement with Arabian Petroleum Supply Company (APSCO) to introduce Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) at the airport. This initiative aims to promote sustainability in aviation by utilizing SAF and Lower-Carbon Aviation Fuel (LCAF), which are specifically developed to reduce greenhouse gas lifecycle emissions associated with aviation.

According to Zawya, SAF can be produced from clean hydrogen and captured carbon dioxide, or from renewable and waste-derived aviation fuels. This move is part of RSG’s broader strategy to lower carbon emissions, which also includes a commitment to power all its operations using solar energy.
RSG emphasized that the introduction of SAF aligns with global efforts to make aviation more environmentally friendly and to address climate change effectively. This partnership marks a significant step toward a more sustainable future for the aviation sector in Saudi Arabia.
