The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) recently welcomed a delegation from Sharjah Police Headquarters. The purpose of this meeting was to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise between the two parties to better support the business sector, investors, and stakeholders in achieving sustainable economic development across various sectors in the emirate.

During the meeting, several key topics were discussed, particularly focusing on assessing money laundering risks and the procedures in place to confront and control these risks. The importance of raising awareness and enhancing mutual coordination to address common issues in this domain was emphasized.
Hamad Al Midfa, Director of the Legal Affairs Department at SEDD, stressed the department’s dedication to strengthening collaboration with various government agencies. He praised Sharjah Police for their ongoing efforts in reducing money laundering crimes and improving the quality of life in the community. Al Midfa noted that this meeting is part of SEDD’s commitment to fostering cooperation with relevant agencies and building a robust culture of compliance within Sharjah’s economic and financial systems.
SEDD aims to bolster the effectiveness of the systems designed to combat money laundering and terrorism financing through collaboration with strategic partners. This includes the implementation of best practices and the organization of integrated courses and workshops aimed at enhancing skills related to these systems.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties underscored the necessity for regular meetings, given their crucial role in accelerating development, enhancing investment, and unifying efforts.
