The Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA) has returned for its 12th edition, inviting submissions in four special categories that focus on children, adolescents, and youth. This year, the awards have been selected from a total of 23 categories, including the Best Innovative Project Targeting Children and Adolescents and the Best Youth Initiative in Government Communication.

These awards are part of SGCA’s commitment to fostering creative projects that empower young generations in various communities. The initiative aims to provide young voices with a larger platform, support new talents, and promote positive social and personal growth among the youth.
The category for Best Innovative Project Targeting Children and Adolescents recognizes initiatives that facilitate growth, learning, and responsibility among children and teens through educational apps, books, games, or media. Meanwhile, the Best Youth Initiative in Government Communication honors youth-led projects that utilize creative communication to address social challenges, enhancing public trust and transparency.
Alya Al Suwaidi, Director of Sharjah Government Media Bureau, emphasized the importance of these categories, stating, “Creating award categories for youth-led and youth-focused projects shows our belief in communication as a powerful way to raise awareness, build skills, and support innovation in a diverse and culturally rich society.”
Additionally, two subcategories under Best Communication Targeting Youth focus on supporting young entrepreneurs and campaigns aimed at instilling positive values and behaviors through modern digital tools. “Young people today aren’t waiting for opportunities – they are creating them. They are changing how institutions and society connect through open, smart communication,” Alya added.
With the backing of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, the award plays a vital role in highlighting meaningful ways to engage and empower communities. The SGCA strengthens Sharjah’s position as a leader in contemporary government communication that is grounded in knowledge and community development.
Entries for the SGCA are open until July 24 through the official SGCA portal. Last year, the award received over 3,800 submissions from 44 countries, showcasing a diverse array of projects that connect generations and cultures through effective communication.
